10/11/10 - Annual Cruise Awards

Well its that time of year again, the Cruise Awards which are held yearly and organised by Cruise Critic took place on Tuesday naming the Queen as Best Ambassador for the cruise industry. Over the years she has given names to ships such as the former Queen Elizabeth 2 and the latest Cunarder ship.

The best UK departure point was named as Southampton, comments from the judges included praise for the port for “having the foresight to invest in creating port facilities that can support the world’s largest ships”.

The number one award for cruising with kids was given to P&O Cruises’ Ventura due to its vast children’s facilities on board. The P&O fleet also took the award for best honeymoon ships.

For first time cruising it was the Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas that took the award and Southampton’s Queen Elizabeth took the place for ‘Best New Ship’.
